In the hospital I work for, it has been a tradition to decorate your units or departments as best as you could for Christmas. For the previous years, it has been a contest of who would decorate their places best and the winners are announced at the hospital Christmas party. Last year, we won. But that was no thanks to me. I am, as you would say, artistically challenged. I am completely right brained which means that anything pertaining to arts, may it be performing or visual, I'm not good at it. Heck, even my hand writing is messed up! So when "we" were decorating last year, my job was to watch the pharmacy. Because every artistically-related job they gave me, I managed to screw it all up. So I was pretty much hands-off last year. I think that's one of the reasons why we won, because I didn't touch anything. Haha!
But this year is different. We were told as early as November about the theme of the decorating contest. The materials we're supposed to use are environmentally friendly and recycled. Being hands-off on the whole project last year, I wasn't really paying attention to the whole thing. I was expecting to be just a little help to the team. Like cutting tape or buying the materials. But the last week of November came and we still didn't have a concept. I was getting uneasy so I sought the help of a friend who designed our decorations last year. She had a wonderful idea. The problem was I didn't know how to execute it. For a few days, I pondered on her idea and how to make that a reality. But I really couldn't do it.
Lucky for me, I observed them a lot while they were making their decorations last year. So I picked up a thing or two about making paper mache. Since the pharmacy is made out of mostly glass walls, I decided to utilize them once again to display our Christmas Belen entry for the contest. I have squeezed out every ounce of creativity and artistic abilities that I may have in this body of mine to produce this "work of art". And this is what I have came up with.

They are still work in progress. Do we have a chance in winning the contest? I honestly don't know. All I know is that I have put a LOT of effort into these decorations. 100% doesn't cut it! I'd say 250% would be just about it, haha. Win or lose, I'm happy. Because I've proven to myself and to other people that I could do whatever I want to do if put my heart and my mind into it. I will post the finished product pictures after I'm done painting them and put on the finishing touches. :)
